Sandee, a friend of mine who helps at a local community center, - TopicsExpress

Sandee, a friend of mine who helps at a local community center, lost her brother and flew up to PA for his funeral. Her sister-in-law, who worked at a thrift store, had accumulated quite a number of new pencils and gave my friend the pencils to take back home to GA. Sandee protested that the community center had no current need for the pencils, but her sister-in-law was equally insistent. On the return trip, Sandee was in the Pittsburgh airport looking for a small souvenir, when she noticed a woman trying to buy pencils. This Franciscan worker had just received a call that the ministry she was going back to in Slovakia (sp?) needed them, and she was frustrated over not being able to buy enough on such short notice. Sandee asked this woman how many she needed, and the woman didnt want to say at first but finally admitted that she needed about 1 8 0 pencils. Well, Sandee then opened the suitcase she was carrying and offered the woman the whole bag of pencils, more than 180! This kind gesture on Sandees part, using the pencils provided when only God knew the need ahead of time, has opened up a delightful, cross-continental friendship between these two servants of His!
