Sandeep Sathyan Aug 9th, 11:12pm I still remember, liking him for the first time, it was in 1993, when watching Gandhari in VHS. Though it was a female oriented movie, we kids watched it again and again, just to see the long haired guy with facial stubble throwing knives, planting explosives, kicking the goondas with those long legs. This was a time, when we didn’t think beyond the BIG M’s and the action stars for us were Jackie Chan & Arjun movies. Watching the movie, we knew a super hero had arrived. During the 1990’s there were so many action movies , and this guy created a furore in Kerala, especially among kids and youngsters, His long hair, those cross studs, with a jacket over those sleeveless colored vests. Every kid wanted to learn karate, grow long hair, and ride a bullet. What a rage he was, we kids waited for weekends to come to watch those movies in the VCR repeatedly and keep rewinding those scenes, where he rode a bullet or an Omni to rescue the second heroes, just in time from the villains... Though he talked less, and fought more this guy was our ultimate trend setter. Back at the time when there were not many television channels, no internet and reading film magazines was seen as a taboo. The nearby salon was the only option to read movie magazines wherein we came to know that he was paid almost equal to Mammootty and Mohanlal, and that there were many more movies coming in his way, much to the excitement of us kids.... And, then suddenly he disappeared, creating so many rumours, and then we heard that he had shifted to USA... And then we grew, trends changed, many new faces came, sometimes we caught his glimpses here and there.....but, we do miss those days, and this guy, was without a single dialogue in twenty 20, and a comeback role in idukki gold... but we are still waiting for his real comeback...and to the new kids on the block, you got no idea what u missed.
