Sandy has a question: I need some suggestions. I am a substitute teacher and I sub all grades. Today I was in a 3rd grade classroom, in a Title One/Renaissance school that I absolutely could not maintain control of. I tried all the usual techniques, standing next to the disruptive student while complimenting another who was on task, moving clips on their behavior chart, separating the desks (they were set up in groups), I even had to get out my whistle once to get their attention. Nothing I did seemed to work. I came home totally upset, I just dont know what else I could have done. I did not call the office and ask for assistance, which I have never done. Does anyone have any thoughts?
