Sandy hill 2 - 3 white city.great performance today and fantastic result v one of our rivals for the league.we controlled the game the first 15 mins with most of the play in sandy hills half.they started coming back into the game though and were very well organised from their corners and it was on the half hour mark were sandy hill took the lead from a great delivery from a corner.we then lost clarky after he failed to run off a leg injury after going in hard for a tackle as clarky always does.jarly came on and we started coming back into the game but our passing wasnt as good as it had been the first 15 minutes.again it was a corner that troubled us and we conceded a penalty that was a bit harsh.our keeper made a fantastic save and that seemed to lift the players as the half time whistle went.1-0 ht We started the second half brightly and were were totally bossing the midfield and creating chances upfront.it was our captain peter toner who got us a deserved equaliser from a free kick from 35 yards ten minutes into the second half.we were well on top now but the sandy hill striker put them back in front against the run of play when they cleared a ball from defence over the defence and they lobbed our advancing keeper.we still never gave up and introduced philly for tombo.we got the equaliser when that man toner again hit an even better free kick 25 yards out into the top corner.i then came on with 5 mins left and we somehow failed to take the lead when jay who went round 4 players in the box and hit the bar.with a minute left and sandy hill defending deeper and deeper and we won a free kick on the right side of the box.toner whipped in the free kick and jarly got on the end of it, with a great leap to head past the keeper for the winner.m.o.t.m was peter toner.great performance from all the lads and the strength of the bench today showed the squad we now have.next up is a chance to even the score with rectory at home this saturday.wel done lads.
