Sanger Fire Chief, Greg Tarascou, left, talks with family members after firefighters removed a 92-year-old woman from a smoke and fire filled unit at the Elderberry at Bethel Senior Apartments complex around 11 oclock this morning. The critically injured woman was taken from the kitchen area of her apartment and transported to the Community Regional Medical Center. Even though the fire appears accidental, the area will remain cordoned off while investigators try to determine its cause, according to Tarascou. No firefighter was injured in the rescue attempt.
