Sanitation Foreman "A" for All Areas -- Grade 04 Deadline : 18/9/2013 UNRWA is seeking to employ a qualified: Sanitation Foreman "A" for All Areas Vacancy Announcement Number JF/47/2013 Contract Status Fixed Term Appointment Contract Duration 3 years including 1 year of probation Grade 4 Benefits Monthly Salary JD 441 & 300 Fils. Other benefits include Provident Fund contribution (7.5% of basic salary paid by the Agency), medical insurance and 36 days of annual leave. Dependency benefits are subject to eligibility. Department Environmental Health Duty Station All Areas Issue Date 04 September 2013 Deadline for Applications 18 September 2013 Place in the Organisation Is responsible to the Medical Officer in-charge of the camp health centre and to the Sanitation Inspector in Jordan, to the Camp Sanitation Officer in Gaza; and to the Area Sanitation Officer in other Fields for technical matters and to the Camp Services Officer (except Gaza) for administrative matters. Primary Duties and Responsibilities · Supervises sanitation Foreman and Laborers, maintains and controls their attendance and leave, and prepares statistical and narrative reports. · Supervises water distribution, maintenance water networks, water disinfection and collects water samples for bacteriological examination. · Supervises liquid and solid water collection, and maintenance of sewers and drains, loading and removal; directs refuse vehicles. · Inspects gathering surfaces and breeding places of insects, carries out necessary surveys and supervises insect and rodent control activities. · Inspects and reports on cleanliness in camp and its installations. · Assists in health education for Foremen laborers and camp inhabitants. · Receives, keeps and controls sanitation tools, supplies and equipments. · Supervises sanitation self-help camp improvements projects. · Performs such other duties as may be assigned. Minimum Qualifications · Completion of full secondary education. · Four years’ experience in environmental health/public health. · Good knowledge of spoken and written Arabic. · Working knowledge of spoken and written English. Other Requirements · Leadership, physical fitness to work in all weather conditions and walk extensively is essential. · Should be capable of maintaining and developing good relations with the camp inhabitants. Desirable Qualifications · Two-year course in environmental health/public health from a recognized college or institute. EQUIVALENCY When the minimum requirements are not fully met, the Field Director may exceptionally substitute part of the unmet requirements with a combination of relevant academic qualifications, additional professional training and progressive relevant work experience. NB: Work experience alone or formal qualifications with no relevant work experience are not considered an acceptable combination.
