Sanskrit "Science of Vibration": Introductory Course with Bharati Devi Fri, Jul 05 - Fri, Jul 12 10:45AM-12:45PM / no class on Sun July 7 Includes 10:45-11:30AM open session (available without registration). The course is taught through the unique, interactive method developed by Ashram Founder Shri Brahmananda Sarasvati, with an emphasis on chanting and rhythm. Students will get effective practice in pronunciation and a good introduction to the devanāgarī script as well as to basic Sanskrit grammar, including verbs, nouns, pronouns, sentence structure and sandhi. Also included are general philosophy and psychology of language. Students should plan for daily homework of no less than one hour. This course can be an important step in acquiring direct access to the liberating wisdom contained in the ancient Sanskrit sources. For best results, it should be combined with study of the original texts of Yoga-Vedānta offered daily as part of the Ashram’s core program, 9:45-10:30AM, and available freely. An important principle to be realized is that the essence of Sanskrit is in its sound. Note: Special discount for participants in our educational (ISEWU) courses longer than two days: 15% off Ashram overnight guest rate. Or, when contributing 1 hr of Ashram service per day: 25% reduction on guest rate. Also inquire about our Volunteer Program and tuition scholarships.
