Saradha scam: WB govt suspends 3 officials in suicide attempt by Kunal Ghosh Nov 14 The West Bengal government today suspended three officials of the Presidency Correctional Home on charges of negligence of duties in connection with suicide attempt by suspended Trinamool Congress MP, Kunal Ghosh. Jailed Trinamool Congress MP Kunal Ghosh was admitted to a hospital in Kolkata this morning after he tried to commit suicide. Additional Director General, Prisons, Adhir Sharma told our correspondent that Ghosh had attempted to commit suicide by swallowing sleeping pills. He said, Ghosh was shifted to the hospital from Presidency Correctional Home where his condition is stated to be stable now. A suicide note and sleeping pills were also recovered from his cell in the jail. Ghosh was arrested in connection with the Sarda Chit Fund scam last year. He threatened to commit suicide when he was produced before the special CBI court probing the scam in Kolkata last Monday demanding immediate arrest of those who were involved in the scam. Meanwhile, Kolkata’s Presidency Jail authorities today filed an FIR in a city police station against Saradha scam accused Mr. Kunal Ghosh . The FIR has been filed at Hastings Police Station against Mr. Ghosh by the authorities of the Presidency Correctional Home, suicide today. Mr. Ghosh’s counsel Mr. Soumyajit Raha, who visited SSKM hospital, said neither he nor his client’s family members were allowed to meet the suspended Trinamool Congress MP. Mr. Raha claimed that they were also not given any official update on the condition of Ghosh, who allegedly took excess sleeping pills. Mr. Ghosh had threatened to commit suicide, in front of a magistrate when he was produced before a city court on the 10th of this month, saying if CBI did not take proper action against those involved within three days. Opposition parties in West Bengal today expressed surprise at the state Government not having taken precautionary steps to guard Saradha scam accused Mr. Kunal Ghosh in Jail despite his threat to commit suicide in the open court room.
