Sarah Dee Islam encourages debates and exchanging arguments, but if the people with whom we are discussing insult Allah subhanahu wa taala, the messenger, may peace be upon him, or engage in offensive discourse regarding the verses from the Quran, then we should turn away from them until they enter into some other discourse. People who mock usually do not listen and can’t engage in debates with logical arguments. They lack logical arguments, that’s why they respond with mockery and insults. We should never respond to insults with insults and should always respectfully disagree when discussing. In the Quran Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala tells us to not give attention to ignorant offensive and rude people. “And when you see those who engage in [offensive] discourse concerning Our verses, then turn away from them until they enter into another conversion. And if Satan should cause you to forget, then do not remain after the reminder with the wrongdoing people.” [Quran 6:68] “And do not insult those they invoke other than Allah , lest they insult Allah in enmity without knowledge. Thus We have made pleasing to every community their deeds. Then to their Lord is their return, and He will inform them about what they used to do.” [Quran 6:108] Take what is given freely, enjoin what is good, and turn away from the ignorant. [Quran 7:199] “And when they hear ill speech, they turn away from it and say, For us are our deeds, and for you are your deeds. Peace will be upon you; we seek not the ignorant. [Quran 28:55]
