Sarah asks Hi! Im reaching out for more advice. Im due in three weeks and our family is blended. I have a six-year-old son and my husband has a 17-year-old son. When talking about how labor and delivery will go (well be at home) my husband has insisted both boys be out of the house. I feel differently because I would like my son to be present or at the very least close by so we can all be together once our daughter is born (I dont expect the teenager to want to be around, but hes more than welcome). I dont know how to bring this up with my husband- I dont want it to cause any issues for our unity through birth. But every time I see or read a positive birth story involving a sibling I feel so overwhelmed with sadness, knowing hers wont be there. Please no negative opinions about how its my way or the highway. My husband and I have worked very hard on being a team (it hasnt been an easy road!) and the last thing I want is an comment which may sow dissension or hard feelings toward one another. Thank you!
