Saras Question: Does anyone else have the problem of being treated without respect at your psychiatrists office? I have only missed one appointment in five years, but I was chastised up and down for this, even tho it had to do with my mental illness, which they SHOULD be very understanding about. Also, I am treated like a second-class citizen when I report in for my appointments, or if I have questions afterwards about subsequent appointments. My appointments with the psychiatrist are supposed to be 15 minutes long; he hurries me out after 5 minutes and I hardly have a chance to ask any questions at all. He sees 200 patients a week. Dont suggest I go to a different doctor. It is really difficult in the Denver area to find a psychiatrist let alone one who takes Medicare. I have no choice but to go here. I like to think I have a fairly normal outlook and am not being super-sensitive here. But everyone in this doctors office acts like they are sick and tired of patients. I do not WANT to be a patient, it is definitely not my first choice. Wow! this is a downer, and I have to see him today, so felt inclined to write and get other points-of-view. thank you.
