Sarasota Police Department Please pass along!! Sarasota native and Green Bay Packers cornerback Sam Shields, and Bradenton native and Denver Broncos cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, will have media availability Thursday, July 18 at noon at the Robert L. Taylor Community Complex, 1845 34th Street to discuss their upcoming ‘Stop the Violence’ Celebrity Basketball Fundraiser to promote the importance of non-violence in our community. Vice Mayor Willie Shaw and Sarasota Police Chief Bernadette DiPino also will be in attendance. The ‘Stop the Violence’ Celebrity Basketball Fundraiser will be played Friday, July 19 at Booker High School, 3201 N. Orange Avenue. Gates open at 6 p.m. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. Mr. Shields and Mr. Rodgers-Cromartie currently are assembling their respective teams to play each other in what will be a fun family event focusing on non-violence and community building. Admission is $5. All proceeds will go toward funding youth programs at Robert L. Taylor Community Complex. “We do our best to convey to our youth that violence is not the path for them to reach their full potential,” said Jerry Fogle, RLTCC Manager. “We’re very excited to partner with Sam, Dominique and Booker High School for this fundraiser that also will help raise community awareness about the need to stop the violence.”
