Sat reflecting on our first evening in Tokyo. What have I - TopicsExpress

Sat reflecting on our first evening in Tokyo. What have I learnt? 1. what an amazing city and very respectful people. 2. The heat, its like being in Vegas, but a vey wet heat. 3. The food, wow love it, a true whizz at using chopsticks now. 4. The western style gay bar just like any bar really, had wine and a Cosmo, oh and some beer as well. 5. The traditional gay bar it was another walk in bar and the music stops situation, I thought we walked into someones home, lol. I must say I have never been made to feel so welcome before. Talk about bar snacks, good grief, I think we had a five course meal. Drank traditional Sake as well, just like the Japanese do. Mind you it was quite pricey. 6. I have to mention the good old cockroach, it just like being in New York again. The first one was on the roadside, walking along the gutter, he or she then decided to walk up the curb towards my leg. I really must grow a pair, I screamed like a girl. The second cockroach I was as equally unimpressed with, this one was walking up the side of the bar, again, just like the one I saw in Barrage in New York. I dont think its the same one, lol. 7. I must mention the toilets, sorry to talk about this must I must. I have found three types so far, two are quite fun. Toilet one is just a hole in the ground, interesting to say the least, I guess you know that no one else has had their bare bum on it. Toiled two, which most bars have and also our hotel. You walk towards it and the lid opens, the toilet seat is heated, and when you have done your business you the get a bidet, expect that the stop button does not work on ours, I thought that simply standing up would stop it - I was proved very wrong and flooded the bathroom. I think thats it for now, not bad for a few hours in the city, off to the Tokyo Skytree now...
