Sata counts development cost By Staff Reporter President Michael Sata has disclosed that his government has pumped up to K34,504,305.93 into some 746 projects country-wide through the development arm, the Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC) so far since he assumed office in 2011. Sata in his latest Facebook flash said the funded projects include 44 micro processing units, 55 factories, 280 diary production projects, 115 fish production and 252 trading that have immense potential of job creation. President Sata said it is the intention of Government to provide access to finance over the period 2013 – 2017 to at least 2,700 Small and Medium Enterprises and 45,000 micro-entrepreneurs in line with the PF manifesto. He said the CEEC has extended a finance facility of K3 million for a new cotton project, which includes setting up of a cotton ginnery in Mumbwa aimed at creating up to 11,000 employment opportunities. The President said government will continue to empower the people through diverse but integrated socio-economic strategies that include ownership of productive assets and resources, increasing levels of employment in the formal sector, increasing household incomes, expanding literacy and skills development and ensuring preferential procurement and access to service of services of state institutions.
