Satellites are put through a wide range of tests to ensure that they will survive their launch and time in space. One of the test systems the European Space Agency uses is the Large European Acoustic Facility in Noordwijk, the Netherlands to expose the satellites to the noise levels of a rocket launch. The room is outfitted with nitrogen powered horns that blast the satellites with sounds exceeding 154 decibels, which is loud enough to potentially kill a human being who is exposed to it long enough.
