Saturday 1/18/2014 at 1820 hours the Cassville Volunteer Fire Company as well as the Whitesville Volunteer Fire Company were dispatched to a structure fire. We all knew the address. It was one of our own. Those words we never want to hear from our pagers were said and away we went. Upon arrival it was quickly discovered the fire had started in the chimney and was now in the walls of the structure. In seemingly no time at all the wall was opened up, the stone work for the fireplace was down, and our crews were working tirelessly to get to the fire and extinguish before any further damage was done. The fire was stopped dead in its tracks and didnt spread from the initial area. Calls like this challenge us and define who we are. The crews of 56, 57, and Joint Base along with the big help from Car 14 accepted that challenge, then made it cry uncle. Please keep our family in your thoughts as they rebuild, thankfully, just one area of their home.
