Saturday 28th & 29th June Mid Summer Series Final by Chris Dando Unfortunately the wind failed to turn up on time for the Saturday of the final weekend for the Mid Summer Series at Varuna. Eventually the race team signaled no racing for the day which left just the races on Sunday to be sailed to finish the series. Sunday saw nine boats out on the water and it was the RS400 helmed by Sophie that not only showed the way to the rest around the course, but also sailed quick enough in the changeable conditions to take first place on handicap in all three races. In the Lasers, it was Charlie who used his extensive knowledge of the local conditions to lead the rest home behind the RS400 in the first race. Scott followed Charlie home to score an important 3rd place towards the overall series score. With Gareth back in form to take second on handicap in the next two races, Charlie and Kevin were battling it out to keep Gareth honest which frustrated Florents efforts to get good enough results to challenge Scott for the overall win. At the end of the day and the series, it was the steady sailing from Scott which took the trophy, with Florent in second and Malee in third.
