Saturday, August 3, 2013 Time10:00am until 4:00pm Where Union Street, Mount Pleasant, Ohio 43939 Description The 150th anniversary of Brigadier General John Hunt Morgan’s Great Raid will be commemorated at the 2013 annual tour. The small village of Mount Pleasant encountered Confederate soldiers when Morgan dispatched riders to the village to abduct Dr. James Findley and met in Dillonvale to treat a wounded soldier. Tour special features planned are local area Morgan’s Raiders expert Lyle Zerla, the historical homes of Dr. James Findley, Benjamin Stanton, Kirk/Dillworth Rowhouse, Hon. J.T. Updegraff home’s porch and the “Hidden Garden.” In addition are the five Society owned historic sites: Harris/Bone Store log cabin (1804), the pre-Civil War Tin Shop (1840), the Historical Center (1846) and the Elizabeth House Mansion Museum (1835) along with the Quaker Yearly Meeting House (1814) owned by the Ohio Historical Society. A chicken B-B-Q sponsored by the Mt. Pleasant Volunteer Fire Dept. will be held alongside the gazebo in Freedom Square. A luncheon featuring homemade pies will also be available on the front porch of the Elizabeth House Mansion.
