Saturday, August 3 It’s Up to You In history and in our world today we see how the use of power can have dramatic effects. We look to leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Dorothy Day, and Kenyan environmentalist and political activist Wangari Maathai, who chose to work for justice and peace. Conversely we can see examples of leadership choices that led to devastation, such as the Rwandan genocide. We may never find ourselves on the international stage, but in our daily lives most of us have the power to make decisions that affect others in some way. It may be the power of a parent to make choices for a child or of an employer that affect workers. What decisions will you make today? How will they be life-giving to others?
