Saturday Critique Group May 03, 2014. This past Saturday, May 3, 2014, sixteen talented writers, poets and scenarists gathered in Savor Fare, for lunch, comradeship, cordial conversation and exchanging of literary ideas. There was good news to be shared: Leon, our debonair, swashbuckling hero for down under and his charming, voluble wife, Michelle will be pitching their screenplay “Always Connected” to famed Hollywood producers, men such as: Steven Spielberg, Stanly Kubrick, Rob Reiner, Francis Ford Coppola and Mel Gibson. It is a forgone conclusion that their surprisingly sensational screenplay will soon be sold and adapted in an Oscar worthy movie featuring famous actors and actresses such as Robert De Niro, Jack Nicholson and Meryl Streep. The rowdy group celebrated and toasted Leon and Michelle for their enviable success and gorged on their delicious cupcakes. If you are a boisterous, lighthearted person, you are invited to join our group and meet the famous Hollywood-famed couple before they depart for the west coast for fantastic fame and fortune. Not to give short shrift to other writers, I must also praise Colt for his great novel “Archosauria”. Sir Charles read a chapter of his novel titled “Karkoram”. Unfortunately, for Colt, who sat in the shadow of Hollywood success, his latest chapter garnered nitpicking criticisms. Scott, presented the group with three of his deep, philosophical poems: Paining numbers, Haiku, and Minor Quake, no one injured. The audience sat in awe as Suzanne, an accomplished actress in her own right, read the poems. A major quake hit the restaurant and everyone was speechless. Fortunately, no one was injured. Dr. Robin read the first chapter of Jonathan’ novel: “The Last Sati.” The story revolved around the rite of Sati, (A Hindu ritual, in which the widow of a departed man, sacrifices her life in the funeral pyre of her dead husband). The group was impressed and intrigued by Jonathan’s novel, but they wondered out loud, if the rite of Sati should also be practiced in United States, whereupon, horrible writers would depart this world in a bonfire of their own tasteless books.
