Saturday, January 17, 2015 Hebrews 4:12-16, Psalm 19:8-10,15, Mark 2:13-17 JESUS LOVES THE SINNER Dear people of God, our readings, today, portray Gods love to us his sinners. In the gospel, Levi chose to be a tax collector though it was a serious sin for a Jew to engage in that profession. Jesus called Levi out of his sinful job and into being an apostle and missionary. If we repent, we can follow Jesus call even if we are damaged goods, for Jesus comes not for the healthy but for the sick, not for the righteous but for sinners like you and me - Mk 2:17. Jesus is a merciful High Priest - Heb 2:17 who will sympathize with our weaknesses - Heb 4:15. He did not come to condemn but to save - Jn 3:17. Even if everyone else rejects us, Jesus will never reject us - Jn 6:37. Dear friends, you will bear with me that we are conscious of the many sins we commit which have made us so miserable. But due to Gods mercy we have hope. No matter how low weve been, Jesus will take us to heights where we alone could never go. So let us confidently approach the throne of grace to receive mercy and to find grace for timely help - Heb 4:16. By no means shall we remain in our sins because Gods grace abounds - Rom 6:1. Shalom !!
