Our aim is to become a globally diversified mining and metals company. We currently produce copper cathode, copper in concentrate, nickel, gold and sulphuric acid. First Quantum’s current operations are the Kansanshi copper-gold mine in Zambia, the Guelb Moghrein copper-gold mine in Mauritania, the Kevitsa nickel-copper-PGE mine in Finland and the Ravensthorpe nickel-cobalt mine in Australia. When our current projects are in operation, we expect we will be able to triple our annual copper production capacity and be positioned within the world’s 10 largest copper producers. Sentinel is the first mine to be developed at the Trident project in the North Western Province of Zambia. The project comprises five large-scale mining licences and significant geological potential exists for expansion of operations, including the Enterprise nickel mine announced in December 2012. First Quantum is investing US$1.725-billion at the Sentinel mine and construction remains on time and on budget. Plant commissioning will commence in mid-2014 and copper production is expected reach 280 - 300,000 tonnes per annum. Your Role v Environmental Monitoring v Inductions and Environmental Awareness v Public Health Activities Your Skills and Experience Valid driving license with reasonable driving experience University graduate with minimum of Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering, Public Health, Chemical Engineering or Chemistry At least 2 years relevant experience in a mining environment Exposure to developing and updating site Environmental Monitoring Plan (EMP) in accordance with the EMS Experience in reviewing of the EMP to include all necessary changes in monitoring activities Water and air quality/quantity, Radiation, Vibration, Noise and Biological monitoring experience Experienced in preparing and updating of induction material Experience in facilitating environmental inductions and keeping records of people inducted Demonstrated experience in initiating and implementing environmental awareness programmes Well versed initiating and implementing community environmental awareness campaigns Domestic Waste Management experience Knowledge of indoor Residue Spraying (IRS) and Bait Control Computer literate with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, MS Access and Power Point Able to work under pressure and prolonged working hours Good leadership skills and team spirit Good public speaking skills Good report writing skills Ability to be physically involved in work related activities Reasonable knowledge of the Zambian Environmental Law Able to work in a multicultural industry Advertised: 22 Jul 2013 FLE Standard Time Applications close: 13 Aug 2013 FLE Standard Time
