Saturday, My hired help, big kid is so excited, I think he would have slept in the coop last night if I would let him. When I got up this morning the first words out of his mouth was "Are you going to the coop, if so wait for me." I was not going to the coop as I had a few things to do. When I was fixing the feed for the girls, he came and told me there are still only 2 little peeps. Man never goes into the coop first thing. Baby chicks can turn a grown man into a piece of putty. Every few minutes he is asking should we go down and check on them. That is what happens when you bring a city boy to the country. We are looking at a possibility of rain tomorrow, I am planning on harvesting the sunflowers because I grow them for the smiles I see in the garden, feed for the goats and chicks. This morning was a squash bug morning, some of the eggs have hatched and I was spraying babies. Trap was reset this morning as something had another cabbage last night, I am thinking I may harvest all of the cabbage today. I have enough cucumbers to make relish, if some of you have a better recipe I would be interested if you would share. I will be using the sweet relish recipe from the "Ball Blue Book" . I made this 2 years ago and was quite pleased with the results. I have been hoarding one jar in case I did not have any cukes this year. Baby chicks, maybe the temperature will go down for a few days!!! What is not to like about all of this!!! I hope there are great things in your life for you to like.
