Saturday Night Sermon! Our Hatton community has done it - TopicsExpress

Saturday Night Sermon! Our Hatton community has done it again. Last night, the Hornet Hero Sunset 5k was held as a show of support for the Martin Family. I have not heard yet how much was raised for the family, but the HUGE sentiment of love permeated the entire atmosphere last night. Our Church manned a water station in our parking lot, which was about the 2 mile mark. I witnessed most of the runners as they came through. The first one came through well ahead of the rest of the pack, at around 12 minutes. Wow! There were several large packs of runners that came through, People of all ages. One guy came by with two young girls, maybe 4 or 5 years old. Many more folks who were well past 60, (I refuse to say old...I know better)were amazing. There were even 2 women who came by pushing baby strollers. People of all types...Young and old, big and small, fit and...not so fit, I believe there were even some handicapped folks who participated. At the back of the pack, there was this large group of ladies who were walking. I estimate there to have been 12 -15 of them, maybe more. They were just as hot and sweaty as they rest of the runners, and I am sure in just as much pain. But they never gave up. Many of the rest of us know that we could not have made it. I was impressed by each and every one of them, from the first guy who came by, to this group of ladies. This should inspire all of us. As we "run" our race of daily life, how easy it is to want to give up. Life can be difficult. We can get so tired, even to the point of being in pain. But God will enable us to take another step, make another day. And just like these ladies who brought up the rear of the race, they kept going, they persevered, they made it. We can too. If we rely on his strength, not our own. "Let us run with patience, the race that is set before us." Hebrews 12:1. We at Gum Springs Missionary Baptist Church, would like to invite you all to Worship with in the morning. Sunday School starts at 10 am, and Worship is at 11 am. Hope to see you there. May God Bless the Matt Martin, and his family, the entire Hatton Community, And The United States of America!
