Saturday, October 18: Dane has been Mr. “Let me do it myself” today. He has attempted so many things on his own today, I am tired from trying to catch him. Dane is very strong willed and today I have seen that boy in full force. I am glad though. I am overwhelmingly thankful that he is – it is who he was made to be. Our personality traits are God breathed. Both of my boys are “Strong in spirit”. In fact, that is the meaning of Pierce’s name. I know it will serve them well in life. Dane helped his dad today build some kind of thing to keep the john boat stable – I don’t know what it is exactly – it’s a man thing………he roped the dummy a million times, took a nap, went to Lowe’s with his dad, and made some fishing lures. He went fishing but the pond is muddy from the rain and no luck. I have thought about how independent he wants to be. It is a good thing ultimately but it makes me nervous currently. I wonder if that is how God feels about us as we venture out. He wants us to be sufficient, just not self-sufficient. We are to find our sufficiency in the Lord. How I have learned that lesson through this time. I have absolutely learned what it means to trust in the Lord, to lean on Him and not our own understanding, to allow Him, not me, to work it out for good. It is a hard lesson, but I am thankful for it as I can tell you with certainty that God’s promises are true. He will DO what He SAYS. He is unfailing. I am forever grateful. “Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God” 2 Corinthians 3:5 Glory to God…………Sunday’s coming…………
