Saturday, October 25, 1862: President Lincoln expresses his frustration that General McClellan (his presidential nemesis in the election of 1864), leader of the Army of the Potomac, is not pursuing Confederate General Lee. Lincoln writes: I have just read your despatch about sore tongued and fatiegued [sic] horses. Will you pardon me for asking what the horses of your army have done since the battle of Antietam that fatigue anything? He may not have been a military man, but McClellan couldnt pull the wool over that lawyers eyes!
