Saturday, September 14th devotional Good morning, Today is our last day of live racing and with that it’s my desire to wish you well until next season. Our quote for today is from Aristotle; "My best friend is the man who in wishing me well, wishes it for my own sake." The expression of wishing someone well, may make us feel good, however it doesn’t really provide the ability to make good come our way. In the Old Testament, Moses and Aaron were instructed to pronounce a blessing from God that came with the potential for good to transpire in one’s life. In Numbers we read; “The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.” (6:24–26 NKJV) That blessing depended upon a person keeping what is referred to as the Mosaic Law. Attempting to live up perfectly to the letter of the law, in our humanity we will always fail. In the New Testament we find the following blessing in 1 Thessalonians; “Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.” (5:23–24 NKJV) The difference between these two blessings is tremendous. The first depends upon absolute obedience. The fulfilling of the second depends upon the power of Christ working in and through us. This comes freely and completely through a relationship with Jesus Christ. “Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.” In Jesus name, amen.
