Saturday, September 21: Eight hours of fun today! We had a fantastic group of guests, many of which had never seen a blue whale before. We were able to find 3 beautiful big blues to delight all on board, including a last moment look at tail flukes. We also had several hundred common dolphins, 1 ocean sunfish, 5 black oystercatchers, over NINETY brown booby birds, and SEVEN juvenile blue-footed booby birds! The colony of browns has definitely grown and it is super rare to see blue-footed this far north, but for some reason these amazing birds have been appearing off the California (and Mexican) coast in the past couple of weeks. Also had a rare sighting of a red-billed tropic bird. What a fantastic day!
