Saturday Sermon Call On the Lord Psalms 34:17-19 (17)The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. (18)The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. (19) Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all. In our daily lives, we are often faced with challenging situations. For the most part, we usually try to find our own way through those situations and keep moving forward. We sometimes seek advice from friends and other loved ones to help us through those tough times. But there are those other times when we find ourselves in a low, dark place. When we get to that place, it is very difficult to overcome it. During these times, it seems like no matter what anyone says to encourage us, we still feel lonely, sad, and depressed. During these dark times, the devil wants us to feel isolated so he can steal our joy and hope and control us with his lies and trickery. Depression is not of God. In fact, the devil uses depression to make us feel cut off and far away from God. How do we know that? Consider how many times we have heard about people who have committed suicide due to depression. That can’t be of God, because He is love. The scripture says that the Lord hears the cry of the righteous and delivers them of all their troubles. This simply means that in sadness and depression we can cry out to the Lord and He will hear and help us. Unlike the devil, sometimes God wants to isolate us from everyone so that He can clean us from the inside out, eliminate people and things that are not good for us, and bring us out stronger than ever, looking totally different than before. When we feel down, depressed, and at our lowest, we can call on the Lord. He will hear our cries and deliver us. Call on the Lord!
