Saturday is still a work day for me. Not a regular work day. But I use it mostly for reading and writing. Sunday -- thats off limits. And I have successfully kept my Sunday work-free for several months now. When I say work-free, I mean work-free. Ever since I heard the preaching in church about the significance of setting apart a day for worship, family and rest, I tried my best to set Sunday apart. God rested on the seventh day, said in that preaching. That was so for a reason. In fact, the pastor said, the reason for it is the most practical point of creation. God did not have to rest. Obviously. So he did not do it for himself. He did it to send us an important message. The importance of setting apart a day and keeping it holy. I must say that after being faithful to this thought, I found myself to be most consistently efficient, focused and sharp like never before. Consistency and resilience. Grit. Optimism with commitment to good competent work. These are all important qualities at work. All of these require a high level of passion, energy and joy. A day set apart for the most essential fuels like no other. Not only that our passion, energy and joy will hardly be depleted even in extremes of challenges, we will also feel grounded and anchored.
