Saturday night in Boston, I walked out my hotel onto a drizzly - TopicsExpress

Saturday night in Boston, I walked out my hotel onto a drizzly night and into a young blind man passing by. He had his IPhone up to his ear listing to directions. His red tipped cane tap, tap, tapping to find his way. Frustrated with the directions, I asked if I could help. He said, “Yes please”. He held tight to my arm as we walked to the direction of the pub he was trying to get to. We became friends instantly. I was completely present in his company and his ability to be independent and share some humor as he made his way to listen to a friend’s band. He said he recognized that we were close. So finely aware of the scent and sounds closing near. We had some good laughs, as I needed him as he needed me as I was in my 5” heels holding tight to him to keep me from falling. I told him he was protecting me as I was guiding him, we were a team. I believe fate put that man there at that exact time. I walked blocks out of my way in those heels on wet slippery pavement, but I am thankful, for I had an amazing 20 minutes with a beautiful soul. I thanked the universe for those 20 minutes of being completely immersed in his intuitiveness and independence. I love life.
