Saturday was a very long day we were up at the crack of dawn and on the road to Tihoi for the very last time this year to attend Liams graduation lunch from St Pauls Tihoi Venture School. What an amazing day for Intake 2 2014 boys from St Pauls Collegiate School Hamilton to graduate from Tihoi after 5 and half months of hard work, going down there as boys and coming back as lovely young men. From their first day being made to swimming in the creak with their tramping boots on in the middle of winter, waking up to snow some mornings, and early morning surprise playing rugby on frozen frosty paddock in the middle of no where. Waking up early and lighting the Coal Range so that the boys can have a hot shower, and a hot breakfast if youre on cooking that week. After 5 and a half months of hard work getting to yourself, 6 hour solo to a 44 hour solo. Runs started from 2 km, 14 km and ended with a 21 km half marathon, house tramps and parent tramps being well prepared and with all of these walks a runs not even getting a blister. Preparation for these outdoor pursuits is essential. Kayaking, Absailing Cliffs, Mountain Biking, White Water Rafting, and Caving to name of few of the outdoor activities that these boys accomplished as well as cooking their meals and also completing their academic studies. Liam was proud of achieving his NCEA credits, and his Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award but his biggest accomplishment was summitting Mt Ruapehu and leading his group of 20 boys to the Summit. Out of the 61 boys in Intake 2 this winner this was the only group that made it the Summit on Mr Ruapehu. What an achievement for these 15 year old boys. To finish off his Tihoi experience he Canadian Canoed the Wanganui River for a week. Congratulations Liam we are so proud of you, you have accomplished something outstanding and something that some teenage boys from around the world could only dream off.
