He has been accepted to BYU-Idaho, and will start in the fall, but since there will be less than a month between the end of his mission and the start of college, he needs help arranging room/board and the first semester tuition. (byui.edu/admissions/costs) Thats where we come in. We are so blessed to live in a beautiful place near the beach -- lets get out there on the morning of Saturday, July 12 and have some family fun outdoors, getting exercise, and having a friendly challenge to see how fast you can complete a short (super sprint) triathlon! It will be run entirely by volunteers, so participants are invited to make any donation they wish instead of an entrance fee. Of course, these donations will go directly to a scholarship fund for Elder Dalo, to start his college education on the right foot! :) Here are the distances for the Super Sprint triathlon: - Ocean Swim: 400 m (0.25 mi) - Bike on the bike path: 10 km (6.2 mi) - Run on the strand: 2.5 km (1.5 mi) - (All events are round-trip starting near 22nd St. (Hermosa Beach) and heading into Manhattan Beach) What? Too easy you say? Thats the spirit! Complete each event twice for a full sprint distance or 4 times for Olympic distance. Need more flexibility? Form a team of family and friends and split up the events like a relay! Its all good! Donated prizes for all finishers! After-party beach brunch! Also, wed love to have a few awesome people (thats you) help out as organizers or volunteers. Organizers would help with planning the course and recruiting participants and volunteers. Volunteers are needed to ensure safety, direct participants on the course, help with timing, help participants with gear/water/etc. and just generally support/encourage/cheer.
