Saturdays Gluten-Free Food Festival was not what I expected. I - TopicsExpress

Saturdays Gluten-Free Food Festival was not what I expected. I thought there would be vendors lined up outdoors but rather it was inside. It began with a greeting, a raffle and a map of about 50 booths around the store, many which offered free samples of their food. Ive become very cautious with sampling food due to the cross contamination, cooking in Teflon and mystery ingredients but I did have a piece of Feel Good Food dumplings as I know whats in them and I love them! I took a coupon and kept walking. I quickly lost my motivation as I realized it was mainly about trying foods to purchase. Buy, buy, buy...I took more pleasure in seeing people interact and discuss their foods. I listened to one group as they hung around the GF desserts and realized why people feel its a fad or its the next quick weight loss option. I quickly became aggravated and headed towards the cashier with my dumplings. Once there, the nice young cashier was curious about my purchase and I explained it was GFCF. He said, that explains the cost. He then proceeded to say he gives up and just eats meat and veggies due to his reactions. My excitement was sparked and I encouraged him not to give up! I really do believe were on the cusp of change. Not due to a fad, or money but due to knowledge. More of us are educated about food and care about what we put in our bodies. Im not willing to give up! I may get discouraged at times but I believe we will get there! In my mind, there is no other choice :)
