Saturdays NATIONAL WEATHER FORECAST SUMMARY By: Forecaster, David Saurer: The big story on this Saturday morning is the storm system over the Lower MS Valley that is continuing to strengthen and move Northeastward into portions of Eastern Canada by tomorrow PM. In the meantime, showers and possible strong to severe thunderstorms will develop along the associated frontal boundary over the Lower MS Valley and will continue to advance Eastward through the Southeast by tomorrow. Light to moderate rainfall is expected to develop across portions of the Mid MS Valley to the OH Valley for today. For Sunday, the rain showers will increase in intensity to moderate to heavy rainfall over the Northern Mid-Atlantic through Southern New England and will then move off the Northeastern Coastal areas by tomorrow PM. In addition, the bigger story is the snowfall developing over portions of the Upper Great Lakes in the colder sector of the storm system and this will move East into Northern New England by tomorrow PM. Light snowfall will be possible and linger over the Great Lakes by Sunday with lake enhancement picking up the pace by Tomorrow PM and lingering into most of Monday with winds picking up out of the Northwest and gusting at times to almost 50 mph. This will be creating whiteout conditions at times. Check the advisory graphics for all the watches/warnings associated with this system. We will continue to monitor things closely for more details and updates. Meanwhile, we are watching a frontal boundary on the leading edge of some very chilly air with the high pressure ridge over Western Canada, this morning, this will continue to sag Southward into the Plains and to the Gulf States by Sunday AM. This system is producing snowfall over the Northern Plains and Rockies to portions of the Upper MS Valley and then sag Southward into the Central Rockies and Central Plains by this evening. The snowfall should continue over the Upper MS Valley through tomorrow AM. A disturbance will ride the frontal boundary to help usher in some light snowfall over the Northern Plains for this evening and into Sunday AM. Low pressure over the Eastern Pacific Ocean will begin to swing through British Columbia, Canada by tomorrow AM, this will aid in some strong onshore Pacific flow to the system allowing for moderate to heavy rainfall for the Pacific Northwest and snowfall for the Northern Intermountain Region.
