Saudi Prince donates $100,000 for PH typhoon victims ABS-CBNnews Posted at 11/12/2013 1:37 PM RIYADH – Saudi Arabian Prince Talal Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud extended help to Filipinos who were affected by the super typhoon Yolanda that hit the Philippines last week. The Prince announced the donation of $100,000 or more than P4 million to the Philippines from the AGFUND or the Arab and Gulf Program for Development. According to Dr. Abdulhanan Tago, a Filipino journalist based in Riyadh, the Prince made his announcement in Arabic. These people, the OFWs, who have been here long time, have been serving the country, they are serving everybody here. So that means he is telling that you people deserve our assistance because youve been serving us. So we have to return at least in this way. Yun ang napakagandang sinabi nya which is very meaningful, Tago said. An AGFUND delegation travelled to the Philippines only last February. AGFUND is composed of the following countries: United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman and Kuwait. The group is in cooperation with the United Nations organization in pushing its growth and human development program. The Saudi Prince, himself, is scheduled to visit the Philippines next year to provide the country with further assistance from AGFUND. Report from Zhariya Alamada, ABS-CBN Middle East News Bureau
