(Savannah, GA) – The Savannah Jaycees are excited to present Coastal Pet Rescue, the organization’s service partner for the year with a $6,580 check. The presentation will be held Sunday before their semi-annual Cruise for Critters Sunday afternoon at Captain Mike’s Dolphin Tours on Tybee Island. The Jaycees raised the money at a Charity Date Auction held last week at Savannah Smiles. “I knew someone in Atlanta that held a Charity Date Auction for a different charity and was able to raise a significant amount of money. There are so many charity events in Savannah and I wanted to do something different that would be a lot of fun while also raising money for Coastal Pet Rescue. Before the event, our goal was to raise around $2000. Once the event got started, we realized we were not only going to meet our goal but exceed it. We could not be more happy with how amazing the auction turned out and are excited to make it an annual event,” says event chairperson Brittany Rowland. Unfortunately, the founder of Coastal Pet Rescue, Lisa Scarbrough, couldn’t attend the Date Night Auction, but she had CPR volunteers texting her donation totals throughout the night. She says that she dropped down to her hands and knees and praised Jesus! “Coastal Pet Rescue could not be more honored and blessed to be the beneficiaries of the service commitment by the Savannah Jaycees. This fundraiser will help us not only pay off our currently outstanding vet bills, but springboard us into a huge project slated for this fall,” says Lisa. “The Savannah Jaycees have enjoyed making a huge impact for Coastal Pet Rescue. We held a kitty litter drive to provide supplies to foster families. Our Date Night Auction allowed us to raised funds to help pay vet bills for the rescues and we are continuing our fundraising efforts this month by co-hosting the Cruise for Critters,” says Cheryl Lawrence, Vice President of Community Development for the Jaycees. The partnership and fundraising efforts come after a long rebuilding process for the Savannah Jaycees. “I am so proud of the Savannah Jaycees and what we have accomplished thus far. We have been in the rebuilding stages for over a year now, and our hard work is beginning to pay off. I am honored to be involved with such an energetic, caring, and devoted group of young professionals,” says President, Sarah Westberry. Please join us for the check presentation on Sunday, September 28th at 1:30 p.m. at Captain Mike’s Dolphin Tours located at Lazaretto Creek on the north end of Tybee Island.
