Save Triple Zero 000 in your phone (for emergencies) In a serious or life-threatening emergency, calling Triple Zero (000) can make the difference between life and death. Save this number in all the phones in your home today. Serious or life-threatening situations include major accidents, house fires, sudden onset of illness, sudden onset of pain (including chest, abdominal or labour pain), severe blood loss or fractures. When you call Triple Zero (000) • Tell the operator if you want Police, Fire or Ambulance • Once you’re connected, stay calm, dont shout, speak slowly and clearly • Tell us exactly where to come by giving an address or location In a medical emergency, the Ambulance operator will ask you some important questions, including: • The address of where the ambulance is required • What the problem is • How many people are injured • The patients age • The patients gender • If the patient is conscious; and • If the patient is breathing The Ambulance operator may give you advice to help the patient while the Paramedics are on the way.
