Save the Date Announcement! (February 8th) Dear book lovers, Many of you already know that were entering the pre-season for Trinidads biggest literary celebration: the NGC Bocas Lit Fest. With much bookish buzz in the air, it gives us great delight to invite you to Paper Baseds first Tea and Readings event of 2014! Our first reading of the year will showcase three tremendous talents, each of them representing a treasury of information in their chosen fields of expertise. Noted steelpan academic, Kim Johnson, will explore our national instruments rich history and legacy, in a talk entitled A Different View of Pan. Veteran journalist and librarian Debbie Jacob will discuss her widely popular new book, Wishing for Wings, which focuses on her experiences in teaching English Language to young male remandees at the YTC. Trinidad Guardian columnist and historian Angelo Bissessarsingh is set to share rollicking excerpts from his short fiction, in work that examines the sociocultural fabric of Trinidads sepia-toned yesteryear. This triad of talents has previously shared their work at the Paper Based podium before; this will be the first time that they converge to read in one eclectic evening of both fiction and non-fiction offerings. Join us on Saturday, February 8th, at 4:30 pm, at the Normandie Hotel. Tickets are priced at $100 and include the cost of wine and refreshments.
