Saved from the shelter, but facing 6 months in quarantine. youcaring/medical-fundraiser/6-months-in-confinement-not-their-fault/111388 Whats the worst thing that you could wish for a happy 5 month old puppy? Being restricted to 6 months of DOH confinement for reasons that have nothing to do with the dog has to be way up at the top of the list. This week, we added TWO of these poor puppies to PMAR. Yes, Two separate cases both coming out of NY ACC. And the thought of these cute little pups having to rot there, and probably get sick and die, was just too much for us to accept. So, weve committed to take these pups on for the length of their confinements, cover the cost of the confienment in boarding, cover the cost of their vet bills, and eventually get them ready and placed into new homes. The minimum cost per dog will be $2,500 assuming no unexpected vet bills. That cost is way more than we will ever recover in the adoption fees. So we really need our supporters to help cover these costs. Lets introduce the two little inmates: OBI (Short for Obiwankenobi) - This little 33 pound guy, estimated to be 5 months old came into ACC at the beginning of November as a stray. His body is covered with numerous bite wounds all over body, face, legs at different stages of healing. Since these are of unknown origin, he needs to be held in quarantine for six months to monitor for rabies. Of course he also has kennel cough from being at ACC. We dont know what is past was, but given his size and the multiple wounds at different stages of healing, it is very likely that he had been used as a bait dog by a fighting ring. And then it is common for them to be dumped on the street when they are no longer needed. Liam (formerly known as Scar) - This little guy is just 31 pounds and is also about 5 months old. He was an owner surrender, though we dont have an explanation as to why he was covered with bite wounds. In this case, its very likely that he had been attacked by one or more animals. Bait dog also? We dont know. Again he has a 6 month hold to monitor for rabies. He also needs a lot of ongoing medical care for his wounds and kennel cough. Weve made a long term commitment to these two and we need help to see it through to completion. Please give what you can to help build the pot of money to pay for both their immediate bills as well as the future ones that we will have between now and May. You can make a one-time donation by visiting youcaring/medical-fundraiser/6-months-in-confinement-not-their-fault/111388 And if you would like to make an ongoing to commitment to support these pups over the next 6 months, please visit our website pmarinc.org/6-months-in-confinement-not-their-fault/ to sign up for a recurring monthly donation. Or you can send a check to PMAR, PO Box 863998, Ridgewood, NY 11386. Either way, any amount that you can give will be greatly appreciated. Our goal is to make their 6 month confinement as comfortable as possible, get them healthy, and then find them new homes that they both deserve. Please share their story. Thank you.
