Saving Piping Plovers Through Photography Update! (Part 1 ROAD TRIP!) I had to take a run to Miami for a meeting at 10AM. Instead of fighting morning traffic I head out for St. Petersburg at 2AM. Got to Crandon Park early and was able to get in and get some sunrise photos. Hit the beach about 7:30 AM and found some plovers eating. Unfortunately the man cleaning the wrack off the beach was out there too. He spooked the birds enough that they headed up the beach to find a place to hide. I ended up with a group of 16 Piping Plovers. I ended up with 4 different flagged birds. The amazing thing to me as I checked out their flags were two green flagged birds with numbers on them. These two birds were reported at Bahia Honda SP in the keys earlier in the week. The storm we had with the strong west winds must have pushed them here. It is over 100 miles! from Bahia Honda to Crandon Beach. I will have info on these guys soon, but any other bird I found with green flags that are numbered were from NY. The other two banded birds were from the Great Lakes and Great Plains populations. The next part of my day, I was at Tigertail Beach in Marco Island, FL. https://kickstarter/projects/1358021475/saving-endangered-piping-plovers-through-photograp
