Saviour of All Jesus offered forgiveness to hurting people. He assured salvation to a repentant Zacchaeus saying, Today salvation has come to this house. Jesus offered forgiveness to hurting people (Mark 2:5; Luke 7:50). He assured salvation to a repentant Zacchaeus saying, Today salvation has come to this house (Luke 19:9). Through such encounters, Jesus fulfilled the goal of His ministry: to seek and to save that which was lost (Luke 19:10). The word salvation in its most basic sense, means the saving of a life from death or harm. Scripture says,It is the deliverance from the penalty and power of sin. God alone is the source of salvation. Jesus said to him (Zacchaeus), Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham (Luke 19:9). The Lord Jesus who created heaven and earth said, Today salvation has come to this house, when He visited the house of a man named Zacchaeus who was a chief tax collector and fabulously rich. Yet, all those who encountered him branded him as a sinner. Deep down in his heart, he yearned to see Jesus face to face. As he was of a short stature, he was awaiting the arrival of Jesus, seated at the top of a sycamore tree. The Lord says, You will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart (Jeremiah 29:13). Accordingly, Jesus who entered into Jericho, felt in His Spirit that Zacchaeus was longing to see Him. He stood right under that tree on which he was hiding, looked up and called him by name as if he had been familiar to him since long, Zacchaeus, make haste and come down, for today I must stay at your house. On hearing these words, Zacchaeus was exhilarated; he joyfully took Jesus to his house. When Jesus entered into that house He declared, Today, salvation has come to this house. My dear friend, our Lord of compassion Jesus Christ is the Saviour. The loving God is the Saviour of all men (1 Timothy 4:10). This invisible God manifested Himself in flesh in the form of man (1 Timothy 3:16). Since He is a Saviour, they named Him Jesus (Luke 2:10,11). Jesus is our great God, who made Himself visible to all, is also the Mighty Saviour at the same time. He was described as, the grace of God that brings salvation to all men (Titus 2:11). The Bible describes Him as the Author of salvation of all men (Hebrews 2:10). When the Lord Jesus sojourned on this earth, a sinner woman, fell at His feet, weeping and lamenting. Jesus looked at her and said, Your sins are forgiven; your faith has saved you; go in peace (Luke 7:37, 38, 48,50). In Mark 5:34, we read about a woman, who suffered for twelve long years from flow of blood got healed instantly on touching His garment. Jesus said to her, Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace and be healed of affliction. Jesus saw a young man possessed by more than 2,000 unclean spirits. All the unclean spirits residing in his body just fled; he was delivered. A leper came to Jesus, imploring Him, If You are willing, You can make me clean. Jesus, moved with compassion readily replied, I am willing; be cleansed and he was cleansed (Mark 1:40-42). This is the grace that brings salvation to all the people. On one side, He is a great God. At the same time, He is the One who saves us. He caters to the needs of all and blesses them, irrespective of all discriminations. A brother attended one of the Jesus Calls Family Blessing Meetings. He had a swelling like Elephantiasis right from his hip to his feet. He could not clothe himself properly. In spite of intensive medical check up, nobody could diagnose the source of that swelling. He had come to that meeting, longing for the healing touch of Jesus. At the end of my message, during the prayer time, Jesus gave me His grace to pray for him. Right at that very moment, Jesus touched and healed him instantaneously. He attended the evening meeting on the same day, without any swelling, and he stood before the multitude of people who had thronged to hear the Word Of God, to share his witness - as a neatly dressed, completely healed person. What a joy! My dear friend, Christs saving work involves already completed, on-going, and future saving activity. Jesus earthly ministry made salvation a present reality for His generation. Jesus healing ministry effected salvation from disease (Mark 5:34; 10:52; Luke 17:19). The apex of Christs salvation work is His sacrificial death: Christ came to give his life a ransom for many (Mark 10:45). You can confess boldly, I was saved when Jesus died for me. Prayer: Most precious and loving Heavenly Father, I come to Your feet in the most holy name of my resurrected Saviour, Jesus Christ. I praise You for being the Almighty God. With You nothing is impossible. You are my Saviour. I praise You for bringing salvation into this sinful world through Your only Son Jesus. I adore You for Your love, Lord. I plead You to come into my heart, and home, and bless me and make me rejoice in the same way as Zacchaeus rejoiced when You went in his home and offered salvation to his home. Father, I plead You to bring healing into my body and mind, and make me Your loving child, today and forever. In the wonderful name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, I pray.
