Saw AMERICAN SNIPER Friday night with my FFF. Astounding film - TopicsExpress

Saw AMERICAN SNIPER Friday night with my FFF. Astounding film about one of the heroes of the wars of the Middle East, Chris Kyle. Clint Eastwoods done it again, and its no surprise that not only has the film been nominated for Best Picture (doubt if it will win...that will probably go to BOYHOOD or THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING) & Best Actor for Bradley Cooper, but has also taken the prize as the greatest film opening for the month of January in movie history...and once again, Mr. Cooper has shown that hes not just another Hollywood pretty boy, but a capable and very talented actor (e.g., THE SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK). The movie pulls no punches in the showing all graphic violence involved in wartime conflict, but it also takes no shortcuts in showing the effects that war has on those who fight it, and the wars they continue to fight when they come home & make the effort to readjust to civilian life. At 84, Clint Eastwood still has the knack for making unforgettable movies about unforgettable people. There are a few FB friends of mine in here who, for reasons that are utterly beyond me, are slashing this film to shreds. I honestly wish I could grasp their reasoning, but they are entitled to their opinions. I just ask that they respect mine & those who, like me, will see this movie as the masterpiece of American cinema that it is.
