Saw Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, which was pretty good. Lots of captions, though, because they communicate through sign language much of the time. Its a lot better than the first one, though. The movie theater gave us a couple of free movie posters for it, which was nice. (Manchester requested them). Afterwards, we went to one of the restaurants on the beach, where I met a good bartender that I wouldnt mind recruiting when we need a 5th one. Hes willing to come and work for us, right now. But, I think that were fully staffed with the 3 of us and the other girl that the manager is bringing on. But, if we get crazy busy, you never know, we may need more to staff the satellite bars outside. Were also looking for barbacks, right now. Drank 2 Hurricanes and 1 Hawaiian margarita... and the bartender knew that I was a bartender... and they pour at least a 4 count around here, which is 2 ounces and highly frowned upon in WA, though many bartenders will do it for regulars. So, yeah, considering that I have hardly drank since we moved... Im feeling pretty good, right now... Anyway, he got a $20 tip and I got a souvenir tiki God glass to take home. I dunno, its an industry thing. You always tip well, and the bartender takes good care of you. Kind of like how the bartenders always took excellent care of me at the Viper Room and I always gave them a 50% tip, even though I was just a regular customer and hadnt worked in the business, yet. I never waited for a drink, no matter how busy it was, no matter what band was playing. I was served first, whether a bunch of other people were ahead of me or not. I always got free drinks and the drinks that I did buy were half the regular price. Thats how it was for me at the Swiss in Tacoma, too. You gotta make friends with the bartender and be super sweet and nice. We eat that up just as much as a good tip. Not all customers are nice. We appreciate the effort and manners. Anyway, after the place closed, we walked down to the water and watched the lightning storm over the Atlantic Ocean. I havent done that since I lived on Venice Beach in California. So, it was pretty awesome. Anyway, tonight was a night of celebrating my new job as Lead Bartender at the new bar. I havent gone out like this in a while. It was nice. I really want to channel my old Viper Room days, when I owned the Sunset Strip, at this new job. Im not as young as I used to be, but I want to bring some of that confidence and fierceness to my new leadership position.
