Saw Draft Day the other day. The acting is fine, with Kevin Costner, Jennifer Garner, and Denis Leary. Costner plays the general manager of the Cleveland Browns and the events take place on the day of the NFL draft. Its all a big commercial for the NFL (and ESPN), but the story, though stretching credulity a little, does grab your attention. Obviously, there is a romance between Costner and Garner, and some of the bloggers have complained about the 17-year difference between the two. But Costner is playing a character about ten years younger than his real age, which should eliminate that complaint. This is clearly Costners film, with his character bombarded by a combative coach, a meddlesome owner, the memory of a beloved and famous father, the maneuvers of competing teams, and the complications of a workplace romance. I didnt expect too much from this movie, but it surprised me. I liked it.
