Saw INTO THE WOODS yesterday. Almost a perfect movie-- perfect casting (I couldnt see the problem with Depp, who I thought was wolfish) and perfect performances. Streep is. . . so DAMN good. My criticism of it is the same I have of the stageplay-- that it does not stop where it needs to, that Sondheim keeps going until hes out of his depth. But I cant articulate that criticism without wondering what DOESNT plunge on until its out of its depth?
