Saw Jack Ryan - Shadow Recruit with the family. Not bad actually. - TopicsExpress

Saw Jack Ryan - Shadow Recruit with the family. Not bad actually. A little slow at first in the set-up but the intelligence of the film begins to shine midway through with some genuine emotion. Even Chris Pine surprised me with his convincing intelligence and perception while making me believe this is a young Jack Ryan that would eventually turn into the character we see Alec Baldwin play in Hunt for Red October. On a side note...Keira Knightley needs to be in more movies. Her love for Jack and her empathy really added some fun/heartwarming moments to the film, guided all the way by Kevin Costner who is just too good at being the wise, old-time agent. All directed by Kenneth Branaugh who plays the main villain. He went from directing Thor to directing Jack Ryan - Shadow Recruit pretty well. I think he wants to show he can do modern thrillers as well as Shakespearan classics. This film isnt perfect, but it comes really close to being masterful in its thought-process and story with just enough human emotion to make me cheer for the cast. :)
