Saw Twelve Years a Slave today and I don’t know what to say. I wasn’t uplifted at the end. There was nothing cathartic about the movie. No lie, I was so thrown off driving home that I made two wrong turns. But it is undeniably powerful. God Bless the director, Steve McQueen. His movie has scenes so uncomfortable and raw that I could barely look at them and I dont know if anyone can convey the hopefulness of slavery like Chiwetel Ejiofor. I think his best acting was done by simply looking into the camera, saying nothing. Please, Please, Please go and see this one!! It is something special.
