Saw some posts today about cosplay and I just cant be quiet about it anymore. Im tired of people saying (and Im quoting here) Well they obviously didnt try hard enough Shes too tall Hes too short Theyre way to fat for their character Theyre trying too hard for something like that If you hear anyone saying this, you have my permission to tell them to simply shut up! And I know Im going to anger a few here, but I do NOT apologize for this, if you find yourself thinking things like this or judging someone on their costuming ability or their physical looks...STOP IT, just simply stop it. It is NOT okay to be like this. Yes this is a very specific thing, but its important especially as a cosplayer myself. Yeah, Ive gained some weight since I took a break from making costumes, Im not as fit, but does that mean I shouldnt be able to do something I love that brings me and others joy? Just because Im not over 6 feet, does that mean I cant create a Batman or what ever costume? No, it doesnt. Thats the beauty and awesomeness of Cosplay, being someone or something youre not, but you love. Sure, Ive seen 400 lb Deadpools, and I could go on, but I fear it would actually seem disparaging to people. The point is, putting someone down and making them feel bad for doing something they love...thats just horrible. So dont do it. Thats all...soap box put up.
