Saw the confession about so-called Rich Kids being judged and thought this might be in a similar category: I know there isnt really much harm or malice meant when people go oooh nosebleed! when they encounter people who primarily speak English in CSB, but after a while it really becomes too much. Way too many times during my stay in CSB, I was immediately categorized as maarte, unapproachable, and too sosyal to be treated like my other classmates. Some people would even go as far as refusing to speak with me because it was allegedly embarrassing for them-- why put yourself down and be ashamed of your language? Just because we have a different primary language, it doesnt mean we put ourselves on some kind of pedestal and it doesnt mean we expect other people to. Its unfair when people slink away or treat you differently because you cant speak tagalog straight. While Ill admit there are always going to be a few English-speakers who fit the old annoying stereotype, please dont think that were all like that. After the first bunch of times of getting ay, nosebleed! as the reply to attempts to speak with someone, it stops being amusing and starts being offensive. - Alumni Ingglesera, --- 10X
